National Rally League Team Up With Orban

Far-Right Parties Join Forces in European Parliament

National Rally, League Team Up With Orbán

Marine Le Pen's National Rally, Italy's League, and Hungary's Fidesz unite in new "Patriots for Europe" group.

The far-right National Rally (RN) led by Marine Le Pen is in talks to join a new political group in the European Parliament with Hungary's Viktor Orbán, leader of the governing Fidesz party.

The new group, named "Patriots for Europe," was founded by Orbán in June and is set to bring together far-right parties from across the continent. The League, led by Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, has already joined the group.

The move comes as the RN seeks to increase its influence in the European Parliament after a strong showing in the recent French elections. Le Pen's party won 89 seats, making it the second-largest delegation in the parliament.

If the RN joins the "Patriots for Europe" group, it would give Orbán a significant boost of influence in the European Parliament. Orbán has been a vocal critic of the European Union and has led efforts to roll back its powers.
