No. 1 Volleyball's Wenaas and Halter Earn SEC Weekly Honors

Wenaas Earns Third SEC Freshman of the Week Honor

No. 1 South Carolina volleyball student-athletes Ellie Wenaas and Kyla Halter have earned Southeastern Conference weekly honors, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

This marks the third time Wenaas, a native of Stoughton, Wisconsin, has been named SEC Freshman of the Week. During South Carolina's two matches last week, Wenaas averaged 3.00 kills per set, 2.71 digs per set, and 3.86 points per set. The outside hitter's performances helped lead the Gamecocks to a pair of 3-0 sweeps.

Halter Earns SEC Defensive Player of the Week

Meanwhile, Halter has been named SEC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Halter led all SEC players last week with 20 total digs, averaging 5.00 digs per set. She also added two assists and an ace, helping the Gamecocks hold their opponents to a .123 hitting percentage during their two matches last week.

With the addition of these two honors, the Gamecocks now have five players who have earned SEC weekly accolades this season. South Carolina is the only SEC program to have multiple student-athletes receive SEC weekly honors multiple times this season.

South Carolina Volleyball Continues Dominance

The Gamecocks extended their winning streak to 19 matches on Sunday with a 3-0 sweep of No. 25 Kentucky. South Carolina has not lost a match since September 1 and is now 16-0 in SEC play. The Gamecocks are also the only undefeated team remaining in NCAA Division I volleyball.

South Carolina will travel to Auburn on Friday, November 4, for its final road match of the regular season. The Gamecocks will then return home to host rival Clemson on Sunday, November 6, in their regular-season finale.
