Solheim Cup Team Talk 2015

Europe's Solheim Cup captain Carin Koch met journalists to discuss her team's chances ahead of the tournament.

The Swede, who is captaining Europe for the second time, is confident that her team can regain the trophy from the United States. "We have a strong team, a team that is full of experience and quality," Koch said. "We know it will be a tough challenge, but we are confident that we can win the Solheim Cup back."

Europe is the defending champion, having won the Solheim Cup in 2011. However, the United States has won the last two editions of the tournament, in 2013 and 2015. The 2019 Solheim Cup will be played at Gleneagles in Scotland from 13-15 September.

Koch said that she had been impressed with the form of her players in recent months. "They have been playing well and they are all in good shape," she said. "We have a good mix of experience and youth, and I am confident that we can form a winning team."

The European team includes seven players who have played in at least three Solheim Cups, including Anna Nordqvist, Suzann Pettersen, and Catriona Matthew. The team also includes four rookies, including Charley Hull, Georgia Hall, and Celine Boutier. The United States team is also strong, and includes several of the world's top players, including Lexi Thompson, Stacy Lewis, and Michelle Wie.
